SLD Read is a non-profit community resource based in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, helping individuals with dyslexia, learning differences, and other reading challenges to develop lifelong language skills. Formerly known as the Specialized Language Development Center, FineLine worked with SLD Read on their rebranding process, including a new name, logo and website.
The new logo shows SLD supporting books on the shelf, much like SLD Read supports the literacy community by empowering individuals to achieve full potential. The imagery depicts one book at an angle showcasing SLD Read’s unique perspective to identify and tutor those with learning challenges.
An aging site was replaced with a customized Wordpress website, allowing this non-profit organization to show off its many services, professional development classes, and a commitment to literacy and learning. Non-profits can look and feel like big business too, even on a budget.
The new design and site functions allow the organization to communicate with its tutors and its students in one portal. Event registration and information is now updated and maintained by internal staff after FineLine facilitated an editing/training session. The website process served as the mechanism to streamline content, collect new photos and gather testimonials on success stories. These stories were then infused into other materials, events and printed collateral.
